Man Walking In Roadway Seriously Injured After Being Hit By SUV

A Fairfield County man was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle while walking in a busy roadway.

John Ponseigo, 62, of Danbury, was hit by a 2018 Honda CR-V driven by James McClure, 72, of Bethel, around 3:43 p.m. in the area of West Wooster and Pleasant streets, said Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams.

A preliminary investigation indicates that McClure, was traveling westbound on West Wooster Street when his vehicle struck Ponseigo who was walking in the roadway, Williams said.

Ponseigo was transported to Danbury Hospital where he is being treated for injuries sustained in the collision.

The crash is under investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Traffic Division.
